AI Visibility Software or a Managed Service: Which Do You Need?

Choose based on who will own the work from research through implementation.

The direct answer

Choose software when your team can configure the research, interpret results, coordinate implementation, and review progress. Consider a managed engagement when you want defined responsibility for those activities. A hybrid can also work. Providers differ: software can include automation and implementation support, so compare actual scope rather than assuming every tool only monitors.

Map the work before the features

Write down the jobs: collect buyer questions, set testing conditions, review evidence, verify facts, prioritize improvements, obtain approvals, publish changes, and repeat observations. Assign an owner to each. A dashboard can make results visible while leaving much of that coordination with your team. Conversely, a capable automated workflow may handle work you do not need to outsource separately.

Check what support means

Onboarding may mean account setup, while implementation may include content changes, technical work, or ongoing operation. Ask what is included and what needs additional scope. Clarify the approval process for public claims and technical changes. The customer should still verify business facts even when a provider writes and publishes on its behalf.

Understand dependencies and handoff

Before committing, ask which accounts, licenses, plugins, or integrations support the changes. Confirm rights to commissioned content, exports, and what remains live if the arrangement ends. Do not assume every improvement is permanent or every subscription transfers. A clear handoff arrangement is valuable whether the provider sells a product, a service, or both.

Choose the gap you need filled

A team with strong content and engineering capacity may need research tooling. A busy owner with defined services may need an accountable implementation partner. A team with existing tools may need one specialist workstream. Use the free diagnostic to clarify your immediate questions, then compare a proposed scope with the responsibilities your team can realistically own.
